I was born with my artistic talent. Sometimes it takes me a while to manifest it in the way that I want to, but it does come out eventually. I have always known that I was meant to use this blessing in some way, but I am still trying to find my way. I am familiar with painting in acrylic, oils, and watercolor, but I would have to say that drawing and sketching comes most natural to me. I also very much enjoy photography.
As a child I was fascinated with cartoons, but not in the same way most other kids where. I wanted to be able to create them myself. That is when I set aside my coloring books and began to sketch the characters I was seeing on tv. I also had interest in storymaking. Our elementary school had a competition each year for every child in each grade to author and illustrate their own book. The books would then be passed around the classroom and the students would choose the best of the class. The winners from each grade would then read their book to the entire school and be honored with a "Young Authors Award" and a trip to a college for a day. I won that award four years in a row.
Originally from the Metro-Detroit area, I was a member of Gallery 194 in Lapeer Michigan. I have sold many paintings and my work has been published in the book "Best of Michigan Artists and Artisans". I now reside in the north Georgia mountains, close to where my father was born. I find inspiration and beauty all around me.
